After Your Consultation In Person: 48-Hour Do's & Don'ts

The most important rule for the first 48 hours after your Consultation In Person is simple: don’t introduce anything new. No new skincare, no new treatments, and no surprise supplements or medications unless we specifically discussed it. In my Bronx office, I take 30 minutes to really talk through your concerns, map out a plan, and make sure you leave feeling clear on next steps, especially if we did a sample or a patch test during your visit.
Quick context: A consultation is where I evaluate your skin, discuss your goals, and recommend suitable treatments. I’ll answer your questions and make sure you feel comfortable and informed before you decide on anything.
Your first 24 to 48 hours: the checklist that prevents regrets
Right away (today)
- Stick to what you already know your skin tolerates. If you’re planning botox, dysport, microneedling, a chemical peel, a facial peel, sculptra, lip fillers, or a PDO thread lift, this is not the time to experiment with new actives at home.
- If you received a sample or had a patch test, don’t layer other new products on top of that area.
- Save your notes. I want you to keep the details of what we discussed, plus any patch-test location and timing, so you don’t have to rely on memory.
Over the next 24 to 48 hours
- Monitor and document anything unusual. If you notice redness, swelling, strong itching, or pain where we tested something, take a quick photo, note the time, and reach out.
- Hold off on booking other new aesthetic services elsewhere until we’ve confirmed the plan. Mixing timelines is where people get irritated skin and confusing results.
- If commuting is part of your life, plan your follow-up smart. Many Bronx clients like quick check-ins that fit around Metro-North or subway schedules. If you’re in University Heights near Fordham University, early-morning or late-afternoon times often feel easier around class or work.
Do this if you’re anxious: Write your questions down as they come up. A lot of people tell me they feel calmer when they have a simple list ready for the follow-up, instead of trying to remember everything at once.
The first week: keep your skin calm so your plan stays on track
A consultation doesn’t usually create downtime, but the week after is when people accidentally derail the plan. The big pattern I see is over-correcting. Someone gets excited about "fixing everything" and suddenly they’re trying new acids, new devices, and extra treatments. Then their skin flares, and it’s harder to tell what’s actually working.
For 7 days, I generally recommend:
- Keep your routine steady. Cleanse, moisturize, and protect your skin. Skip the urge to "try something new".
- Avoid picking at dry patches, bumps, or flaky areas if you tested anything. Picking can turn a small irritation into a longer issue.
- Be mindful with sweat and heat if your skin is reactive. If a workout leaves you flushed for a long time, keep it lighter until things settle.
- If your plan includes weight loss injections or body services, keep hydration and regular meals consistent. Stability helps you and it helps me interpret what you’re noticing.
And yes, I serve clients across Fordham, Morris Heights, Kingsbridge, Tremont, Riverdale, and Yonkers. If you’re traveling in, keeping that first week calm makes follow-ups faster because we’re not troubleshooting avoidable irritation.
Products and habits I like after a consultation (before any procedure)
Until we start your actual treatment plan, think simple and protective. If you found me by searching med spa near me or lip fillers near me, you’re probably ready to move fast. I get it. But skin behaves better when it’s not being pushed in ten directions.
Stick with the basics
A gentle cleanser, a simple moisturizer, and daily sunscreen are usually the safest choices while you’re waiting on botox, dysport, microneedling, chemical peel, facial peel, sculptra, lip filler lips planning, or a PDO thread lift consult follow-up.
Avoid stacking “actives”
If you already use exfoliants, retinoids, or strong brightening products, don’t add extra. If you’re unsure what counts as “strong, ” tell me what you’re using and I’ll give you a simple yes or no.
Keep your notes where you can find them
Screenshots count. So does a note in your phone. The goal is to make your follow-up quick, especially if you’re commuting through the Bronx and want to pop in without losing half your day.
Red flags vs. normal: when I want you to text or call
Most people feel totally fine after a consultation. If we did a patch test or you tried a sample, mild pinkness can happen. What I don’t want is for you to sit on something that’s getting worse.
Reach out the same day if you notice:
- Redness that spreads or gets hot to the touch
- Swelling, hives, severe itching, or sharp pain
- Anything that makes you feel uneasy, especially if you have sensitive skin or a history of reactions

Follow-up tip: If I recommended a next step, book it before your schedule fills up. If you need evening or weekend availability because you’re commuting, let me know and I’ll help you land a time that works.
A lot of my long-term clients come back because the plan is clear and the check-ins are easy. One client put it simply: "Great experience with sagged beauty... great results... very professional and pleasant". That consistency is the standard I hold myself to.
